New versions of Android 4.2.2 firmware for Samsung Galaxy S4 EXynos 5 Octa device appear today, this guide will teach you how you can manually update the latest JB 4.2.2 UBUAMDE update firmware. This guide is provided, especially for all the S4 EXynos 5 Octa smartphone users who didn’t receive this official update firmware by OTA.  This update has been provided by Samsung, and it is an official update. Like you know that, when an official update is rolled out is that isn’t pushed for all the users, and they should to wait until this firmware is automatically available for their devices.  Using this step by step guide you’ll be able successfully install it on the S4 device using the ODIN app, which is a tool special developed by Samsung for helping us to flash different this kind of files.

This latest firmware is compatible and will work only with Samsung Galaxy S4 International variant model number I9500.

Firstly the JB 4.2.2 UBUAMDE has been pushed for the Columbian S4 devices, but using this tutorial you can install the same for S4 I9500 factory unlocked and S4 I9500 International model only.

The UBUAMDE firmware comes to solve some several bugs related on its predecessor version, and it will add some minor improvements for the User Interface OS.
We will present you this flash firmware update in two distinctive parts, the first one will contain the prerequisites and the preparation guidelines for S4 I9500 device before to apply the firmware, and the second one will contain the installation step by step guide.
So, in order successfully install this firmware make sure you won’t skip any step from below.
  • This guide is provided and works only for Samsung Galaxy S4 model number I9500 (Exynos 5 Octa smartphone). Please don’t try to install this firmware on any other S4 device or in other Android devices, you can end up to bricking or damage your device.
  • The S4 I9500 smartphone has to be a factory unlocked device.
  • If your device is a rooted device, then the root access will be revoked.  After you install this official firmware your smartphone will be restored at all factory restrictions.
  • Also if, in your device is running a custom Recovery tool such CWM OR TWRP that’s running on your S4 smartphone this will be erased.
  • In case,  your device is rooted the data from the system file partition will be deleted. (The data stored on internal SDcard memory will be deleted by this installation update).
  • Download and install the suitable USB drivers for your device on your PC. If you don’t have these USB drives you can download them from here, the drivers are needed to assure the connection between the Android device and the computer where we will run the ODIN app
  • From your smartphone’s Developer Option menu, you need to make sure that the USB Debugging option is enable. In case this menu is hidden, then all you need to do to make it to appear is that open Settings, after that About Phone option and now press 7 times on the ‘Build Number’ area.
  • Make sure that the Antivirus, Firewall, Samsung KIES and any security tools are uninstalled or deactivated; If now them can interfere with the flashing process and can interrupt it.
  • For applying this step by step guide, you need to have enough experience in the updating process, and you’re advanced Android users. If you’re a beginner, then you should to stop here and to wait the automatically notification by OTA with this firmware for your device.
  • Make sure that your device’s battery has sufficient power left. The level of the battery should to be more than 80% power left in its battery. If the battery is low power left, then you risk getting a forced power off for the device in the middle of the flashing process, and to bricking them.
  • This tutorial is provided only for educational and instructional purposing, Nairatech  can not be held responsible or liable in case you brick your device or delete any data during and after flashing process or damage/brick your device. Try this step by step tutorial only on your own risk.
