Android is the operating system for more than 1 billion smartphones and tablets. Since these devices we make life so wearing any Android version the name of a candy: Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean. Because really everyone has a weakness for chocolate, we have named the next version of Android after one of our favorite chocolate snacks: KitKat ® To make the launch of KitKat even sweeter, we are giving away 1000 Nexus and 25,000 times 5 euro credit for Google Play . Just keep on your next purchase at eyes after KitKat bars with the Android robot.

The information has been confirmed by a splash page for the new Android OS where is specified that the KitKat will be the codeline for the next Android 4.4 and not the rumored Android 5.0.
The KitKat name appears to keeps the Google’s Android version names ling-standing tradition, where each version of Android OS was named after deserts.
And in the same page we can take a look over the previous versions named after a desert:
  • Android 1.5, Cupcake
  • Android 1.6, Donut
  • Android 2.0, Éclair
  • Android 2.2, Froyo
  • Android 2.3, Gingerbread
  • Android 3.0, Honeycomb
  • Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich
