How to root LG G2 smartphone on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Firmware

During this step by step tutorial we will teach you how to root the AT&T LG G2 device.
Before starting the root step by step instructional guide you need to take a look at the prerequisites that are required firstly and the preparation guide listed below:
  • This guide and all files listed in this article work only with AT&T LG G2 device model number D800.
  • This root method will void the AT&T LG G2 smartphone’s warranty.
  • During the root process a Windows based PC is necessary, in additional the USB cord and the AT&T LG2 smartphone to be near of you.
  • This root process has been developed by an XDA member named “thecubed“. This root has been called IORoot method.
  • Download and install the suitable USB drivers to the PC.
  • From the following path: Settings>About the Phone tap seven times on the Build Number section, and from the displayed Developer Option menu enable the USB Debugging option.
  • Disable or uninstall all the security programs such as antivirus, firewalls or malware protection programs.
  • Uninstall the LG Companion software if this program it is installed.
  • Backup all your important personal data before beginning to apply the step by step rooting procedure.

 How to root LG G2 on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean:

  1. Firstly, download the root file from here and save it in your PC.
  2. Secondly, extract the downloaded root zip file to a folder on the desktop folder on the PC.
  3. Now, connect the LG G2 device to the PC using the USB cord.
  4. Next navigate to the folder where you’ve extracted the Root Package zip files and open the folder.
  5. From there launch a command prompt window (CMD) in this folder. Note: to launch a CMD windows press and keep holding the Shift button from the keyboard and then right-click on the white space in the folder, and from the displayed menu choose  ‘Open command prompt window here’.
  6. Now, on the CMD window enter the following command: adb devices
  7. Now,,this command will verify if the LG G2 device is successfully connected with the PC. If a serial number will be displayed then you can continue to the next step, if the Serial Number isn’t displayed then you need reinstall the USB drivers once again. Also,you need to verify again if the USB debugging option is enabled.
  8. Now, from the Root Package folder launch the ‘root.bat‘ file.
  9. Press any key to continue as the new command prompt guide you.
  10. The LG G2 device will be successfully detected.
  11. Next, disconnect the smartphone from computer by removing the USB cord.
  12. Return to Developer Options section and from there disable the USB Debugging Option.
  13. Wait a few second and from the same menu re-enable the USB Debugging Option.
  14.  Now, reconnect the LG G2 device to the PC using the USB cord.
  15. Next, “Press any key to continue”
  16.  Wait for the root file to be applied.
  17.  When the root process is applied close the root command prompt.
  18. Go back to the previously command prompt window which you have opened in the step 5.
Now, enter the next command lines:
  • adb shell
  • su
  • id- now you should seeing this line: uid=0 gid=0. The line confirms that the root has been applied successfully.
Note: You need to confirm the installation of Superuser.apk application. In other case you can go in the Google Play Store and download and install the Superuser application available there.
